Top 10 Tips For Salon Hygiene

The health and well-being of both the professional beauty industry and its clientele is a top priority. The best way to help ensure that is to always practice great personal and salon hygiene. With the novelty of COVID-19 there are special guidelines we need to follow to protect, our own health, employees and clients’ health.

You may have already read our previous blog post on going back to work after the COVID-19 pandemic. As we’ve promised we will provide new suggestions and a new checklist everyday. Our main goal is soften this re-opening process for our students and readers. Now we want to share our highlights and tips on salon cleaning and salon hygiene to make everyone more comfortable when services continue to be provided.

 

 

1- All the surfaces that may come in contact with customers and staff must be disinfected and cleaned.

2- Common areas such as the washroom, treatment rooms and entrance must be disinfected before and after each client.

 

 

3- Consider disinfecting the doorknobs, counter and debit/credit card machine after each touch.

4- Even though you’ll ask your clients to wait in their car, you may want to clean and disinfect the sofas, couches or chairs in your waiting room.

 

 

5- Make sure you provide hand sanitizer, masks and gloves for your clients’ use.

6- Limit the bringing in of any coats and belongings if possible.

7- Consider not to offer any treats (cookies, candies etc.) and drinks (water, refreshers etc) until the COVID-19 pandemic has disappear.

 

 

8- You may want to declutter some hard to disinfect decorative items such as cushions, rugs, decorative items and magazines.

9- Ensure massage tables or stations are 6 feet (2 meters) apart.

10- Examine building plexiglass separators between stations.
